SUFFOLK, ENGLAND - Since his folky cover of ELO's "Do Ya" -- which earned the praise of its legendary composer, Jeff Lynne, and was included on the Showtime hit "Californication" -- the multi-faceted artist Neil Nathan (neilnathan.com) has made an art form of joyfully genre bending record making, jumping seamlessly between glam rock, americana, power pop, alt country, and folk.

His new single, Home Orford Home, finds him on a different kind of journey.

Praised by UK music and film magazine No Ripcord, as "the bastard stepchild of Jackson Browne and David Bowie," the American singer-songwriter releases his English pub song, Home Orford Home, on August 16 with an intimate, solo acoustic show at Orford's The Kings Head.

Recorded in Orford and completed in Philadelphia and Detroit, the track has a vintage sound that Neil, though an admitted Anglophile and Premier League fan, seems to have no overt reference in his cannon for, besides perhaps The Kinks. "My wife and I have visited this idyllic little village on Suffolk’s Heritage Coast for a few summers now, and as I was walking on the Quay, taking in the gorgeous view, this song literally leapt into my head. There's just something special about the creative energy of this place.”

Home Orford Home is a love song to the village, a kind of musical postcard mentioning everything from Pump Street Bakery's mouth watering bread and chocolates, to the World War I and II history of Orford Ness as an airplane and atomic bomb detonator testing site.

Neil Nathan's looking forward to a busy year ahead as he releases new songs produced by and featuring Joey McClellan (guitarist for Elle King, BNQT, Midlake, Israel Nash) and Mike 'Slo-Mo' Brenner (lap steel guitarist for Songs Molina and Marah).

lyrics

In the village of Orford, in Suffolk, in England
I found myself a home
My destiny's taken me here to Great Britain
Home Orford Home

Home Orford Home
Where East Anglia kisses the River Ore
Home Orford Home
On the Quay, on the Ness, on the North Sea Shore
Who could want for more?

Where King Henry II's castle still stands to this day
St. Bartholomew's Church is a Grade 1 Building, hooray!
Was the Wild Man of Orford a merman or seal, what d'you say?

The artisanal wonders of Pump Street Bakery
Your chocolates and bread are divine
Ah the oysterage at Butley's and Pinney's of Orford
Your smoked fish pate blows my mind

Home Orford Home
Where East Anglia kisses the River Ore
Home Orford Home
On the Quay, on the Ness, on the North Sea Shore
Who could want for more?

In the brackish lagoons of Kings Marsh, live the anemone
From the Airfield Marsh, they fought the World War enemies
And all in an area of outstanding natural beauty

Make our way from the Quay to the Jolly Sailor
Pints are all on me
To the Kings Head and then to the Crown and Castle
More pints or a martini

Home Orford Home
Where East Anglia kisses the River Ore
Home Orford Home
On the Quay, on the Ness, on the North Sea Shore
Who could want for more?

Have a warm scone at Riverside Tea Room with clotted cream
Orford General Store for your veg and fruit and cheese
See the Lighthouse before it sinks into the sea

In the village of Orford, in Suffolk, in England
I found myself a home
My destiny's taken me here to Great Britain
Home Orford Home

Home Orford Home
Where East Anglia kisses the River Ore
Home Orford Home
On the Quay, on the Ness, on the North Sea Shore
Who could want for more?
Who could ask for more?
Who could endeavour for more?
