about
In honor of the first East Coast blizzard of 2015, semi-supergroup, The Knee Jerks, release their jangly power pop celebration, Snow Day.
Last February in Philly, a bored Chris Malcarney (The Donuts) was snowed in for the second day in a row, and posted the following message on Facebook: "I've been working on a snow day tune. Does anybody want me to email them the GarageBand tracks so they can add a bass line, some drums, lyrics, or keys?"
New York singer songwriter Neil Nathan, and members of Beretta 76, The GTVs, and The Silence responded in minutes. And in short order, lyrics and vocals arrived from Panama City Beach, guitar from San Diego, Hammond organ from Mt. Airy, and drums and bass from South Philly. The results were mixed by long time Neil Nathan collaborator Riley McMahon at his New Warsaw Studio in Brooklyn.
So grab a shovel, grab a beer, and turn it up!
The Knee Jerks are: Chris Malcarney, Neil Nathan, Pete Rydberg, Sam Steinig, Evan McIntyre and Tim Malcarney.

Snow Day by The Knee Jerks
Still reeling
From another snow day
I can hear my good friends say
It’s time to drink
It’s time to roll, let’s play
We’re singing
On another snow day
There’s a beer and there’s a sleigh
Pour me a shot
I’ll shovel with all that I’ve got
It’s time we take this party underground
Turn it up, let’s go
It sounds much better you know
When you have another drink
When you're free not to think
When your voice is ringing out
Guitar slinging
On another snow day
I can hear my neighbors say
Turn down that rock
You’re disturbing the entire block
I’d call the cops but the roads are all shut down
Solo
Still reeling
From another snow day
I can hear my good friends say
It’s time to drink
It’s time to roll, let’s play
We’re singing
On another snow day
There’s a beer and there’s a sleigh
Pour me a shot
I’ll shovel with all that I’ve got
It’s time we take this party underground
Pour me a shot
I’ll solo with all that I’ve got
It’s time we take this party underground
